Open to all kick off -event to Flavoria Innovation Week 14.11.

Flavoria Innovation Festival is a week long innovation event, where student teams get to solve real life company challenges. The week is kicked off on Monday 14.11. with an open kick off -event, after which the teams get to start their work. If you wish to participate in the kick off -event, we ask you to preregister. We warmly welcome everyone interested in the subject. The event is organized in collaboration with Flavoria research platform and Turku School of Economics.

In the kick off -event we will hear more about the background of the Innovation Week, as well as the challenges the teams will be solving this year. The companies presenting their challenges this year are Leipomo Rosten, Jalostaja and Sodexo. You can read more about the challenges here. The students participating in the teams come from the University of Turku, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Åbo Akademi and Livia.

To spark the student team’s creativity, we have two guest speakers giving their insights during the kick off -event, Ronny Eriksson and Reetta Kivelä. Eriksson will talk about turning idea into innovation, while Kivelä will consider challenges in the food chain and the role of the development of operating methods in the implementation of climate goals.

Speakers:

Ronny Eriksson is a serial entrepreneur, PhD student and specialist of sustainable growth. Eriksson is known for multiple projects like Ambitious.Africa, Norders and Hanken Venture Lab. He believes in entrepreneurship based on well-being, through which unique and sustainable stories and brands are born. At the opening of Flavoria Innovation Festival Eriksson will be sharing his thoughts about how to turn an idea into innovation. You can read more about him and connect through LinkedIn.

Reetta Kivelä is an entrepreneur and a professor of practice at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry (University of Helsinki). Kivelä has a doctoral degree in food chemistry and she is also a co-founder of Gold&Green Foods Ltd, and the inventor of Pulled Oats (Nyhtökaura), as well as a co-founder of the Nordic Umami Company. Currently she divides her time between the University of Helsinki and NUM, where she works as the chief science officer. In her work, Kivelä is dedicated to building a sustainable food system, which she will be also giving her presentation.
