Day 3: Flavoria Innovation Festival

Instructor Hilkka Halla (Yrityssalo Oy) discussing with the students.

Day three of the innovation week started with the teams gathering and going through all the information and ideas they have gained during the first two days. In the afternoon it was time to present all of their existing ideas to company representatives.

To help explain their ideas to the companies, the teams used early problem-solution methods, defining for instance what the problem is, what is the solution they offer and what extra value the solution brings to the company and customers. They also defined key partners needed to produce the solution and discussed sales and marketing channels. These points were then transferred to the PowerPoints presented to the companies.

The teams are instructed throughout the week by Emma Sivula, Mari Norrdal, and Samuel Piha from the University of Turku and Hilkka Halla from Yrityssalo Oy.

The atmosphere the students create has also transferred to the organizers:

The group I’m working with showcases both inspiration and professionality. They also function well as a team, where everyone brings their strengths to the table. Our future innovations seem to be in good hands. – Hilkka Halla

The prevailing atmosphere throughout the beginning of this week has been really innovative. We have also gotten to participate in the innovations ourselves, answering to all of the surprises that come along while organizing this sort of event for the first time. – Emma Sivula

On Thursday, the teams will gain pitching coaching from Juhani Torkki, when the festival moves over to SparkUp Turku.
